Kudos to all for getting ships deployed
RAdm Tyrone Pile
Commander Maritime Forces Pacific
April 21, 2008
It is with the utmost pride in this formation that I extend my sincere appreciation for all efforts made in readying HMC Ships Protecteur, Calgary, Ottawa, and Regina for their recent departure.
These four ships are now underway on journeys that will take them to distant corners of the globe in support of international maritime security and Canadian diplomatic objectives. They will represent Canada wherever they go, whether conducting maritime security operations in the Middle East (in the case of Calgary and Protecteur) or showing the flag and exercising with our partners in Asia Pacific (for Ottawa and Regina).
None of these ships would have sailed as scheduled without the concerted efforts of the entire Maritime Forces Pacific (MARPAC) team. The staff of Fleet Maintenace Facility Cape Breton exceeded all expectations in making sure all four ships were ready from the technical, maintenance and engineering perspectives for the operational challenges that lie ahead.
MARPAC and fleet personnel staff deserve much credit for ensuring the ships were crewed with the right people with the right skills for their respective missions. Operations, logistics, administrative and communications staffs at the Formation, base and fleet level should feel proud of their significant behind-the-scenes contributions to orchestrate and sustain the overall effort.
Finally, I would like to extend my appreciation to MARPAC public affairs, visits and protocol, and the Military Family Resource Centre for their ongoing roles in these successful deployments.
As a result of your collective and sustained efforts, our ships sre ready for their missions.
Bravo zulu to all
