At a ceremony presided by Capt(N) Jeff Hutchinson, Commander CFB Esquimalt, the Maritime Forces Pacific Defence Community launched its 2021 National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC) on Oct. 5 at the Chiefs and Petty Officers’ Mess.  The event entailed the traditional pancake breakfast and inspirational speeches.

This year’s kick-off was a success despite limitations on in-person participation resulting from COVID 19 protocols.  In just a few hours, organizers raised over $1,000 for charity.

The NDWCC continues to be one of the largest and most successful campaigns of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC), of which it is a part.

The CAF/ DND Team has over 1000 volunteers working to make a difference in communities  across the country.

In 2020, the NDWCC raised more than $2.5 million, accounting for approximately 8.5 percent of the $29.3 million raised in total throughout the GCWCC.
